Never leave a burning candle unattended. Extinguish all candles when you leave a room or before going to sleep.
Never use water to extinguish a candle. A candle snuffer is an ideal way to extinguish your candle. Candle Snuffers can be purchased HERE .
Place candle vessels on a stable, heat resistant surface before lighting.
Keep candles out of reach of children and pets.
Always read and follow manufacturers' directions for use and safety, and extinguish a candle if the flame gets too close to the candle holder or container.
If burning more than one candle at a time, ensure the candles are at least 10cm apart from one another.
Do not place a burning candle within two feet of clothing, books, curtains, or anything flammable.
Keep lit candles away from draughts, ceiling fans and any air currents. Any form of air current can cause uneven burning, smoking, diminish the scent throw and even decrease the burn time.
Every time you light your candles, trim the wick to 6-8mm. Trimming the wick helps prevent the flame from getting too large. Wick Trimmers can be purchased HERE.
Candles should not replace nightlights.
Candles should burn for no longer than four hours at a time. Burn times differ from candle to candle. Please refer to your candle purchase, which will outline a full melt pool burn time more precisely.
If your flame is too long, flickering, or the wick is not looking straight, you may need to trim or straighten your wick. There are several ways to straighten a wick, including using special wick tools, a knife, extinguishing the flame, and leaving your candle to cool before trimming and straightening the wick, then relighting it again. Certain wick types are self-trimming and designed to curl over as they burn to prevent mushrooming but will remain burning from the top of the wick. If this is not the case and the candle is burning unevenly, the wick may need straightening.
However, there are some basic safety rules you should follow.
